About the Foundry Mug

This is the mug we make more of than anything else: about six hundred a week. It is a single pressing of steel, dipped twice and fired twice at 820 °C, so the colour is glass rather than paint. It will not fade, it will not hold the smell of yesterday’s coffee, and it does not care how hot the dishwasher runs.

The rim is rolled over and finished in black enamel. That is the part that takes the knocks, and a dark rim hides the small marks a good mug collects over ten years of use.

Pick the 0.3 litre for tea and a normal coffee. The 0.4 litre is for people who want one mug to last a whole meeting.

“The colour matches the website, which I did not expect. Only four stars because the 0.4 litre sold out in Sage and I had to wait nine days.”
